Why I became a surgeon
My fascination with the operating room environment began early on in my studies, during a clinical traineeship at the Bürgerhospital in Frankfurt in 1986.
I was and still am captivated by the feeling of being part of an orchestra, an ensemble of players and instruments each waiting for their cue to perform in perfect harmony. Over the years, I've been able to master many instruments, and today I conduct my own orchestra, so to speak.
